For a fair, community-based, local and democratic economy.

Our food comes from farther and farther away, fertilized with more and more fossil sources. It arrives on more and more trucks burning fossil fuel. Our banks are bigger but no longer subject to state regulation. The large corporations and the World Trade Organization (WTO) do as they please. Other people's trash is one of Maine's fastest growing businesses.

Without A Car

"$92 a /month/? What?" The car insurance was something a little over $400 a year last I knew. "And what's with this monthly bill? When did that happen?"

Beaten Badly

I'm terribly disappointed. I think we have been badly beaten.

Rap

"Hi, I'm collecting signatures to repeal Maine's Real ID law. Are you familiar with that? Are you a registered voter here in Maine?" I emphasize the word "repeal" and jam the questions together. A Trail Of Footprints

The last storm in February, the snow on each side of the path was close to chest high. Instead of throwing the snow that high I started whacking it down. No more shovelling. With the recent warmer days and the rain, I can see the footprints in the white ice: me in my Sorrells, Salieri cat with the six toes, a few chippy feet and those of an errant chicken.

The Gap Is Too Wide

"The gap is too wide," the legislator emailed me.

LD2283 - Right On Target

LD2283 does nothing to improve Maine's electrical power situation. In combination with the bill on Energy Corridors, it is a give away to foreign and alien corporations. As is true of every "solution" that seeks to perpetuate our current economic paradigm, it makes matters worse.
