All Lines On Hold - Repeal Real ID
There will be no postings here, as little work done for paying clients as can be arranged, as few weeds pulled from the garden and certainly no grass mowed while I work on the Real Repeal campaign.
"I don't sign any petitions", people say. "But oh wait," they say looking at my Repeal Real ID shirt, "THAT one I want to sign."
Nearly 60 thousand signatures we need to put LD2309 on the ballot via the Peoples' Veto mechanism. The mechanism seems to work pretty well - for well-funded corporations opposing tax increases - but doesn't seem such a cakewalk even for a serious crew of experienced organizers.
If 3 out of 4 people sign my petitions, that's still only 20 an hour. Of the 600 volunteers, maybe a third are working - and some of them not so much. Of the 90 days we are supposed to have by statute, we really have only 50 - because we have to wait for language from Secretary of State and because we are required to submit petitions early to town halls.
No more updates until the petitions go in.
